School Safety

School safety encompasses a succinct plan to prevent and respond to threats of danger, natural disasters,
violent criminal acts and any event that places faculty, staff and students at risk. The need for a school safety plan cannot be expressed more profoundly than by examining the results of past crises that have occurred in the United States such as, the Columbine high school massacre, the horrific murders of Virginia Tech and the unprecedented events of Hurricane Katrina. All of the above events required schools to have a plan in place that could be activated within minutes to ensure the least amount of casualties and the greatest level of safety.

School safety is necessary for learning to occur!
