Credit By Exam
September 26th, 2018
Credit-by-Exam (CBE) is a testing program offered by Pearsall ISD for enrolled students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12. The purpose of CBE testing can be for acceleration (a student wishing to test out of a grade level or course without having had prior instruction) or recovery (a student wishing to receive credit for a failed course).
Kindergarten acceleration requires a student to test in Reading and approval from a committee. Grades 1-8 acceleration requires a student to test in all four core areas: ELAR, Math, Science, and Social Studies. In grades 9-12, students are allowed to test in only the particular course they are attempting to accelerate past. In addition, students in grades 6-12 may recover credit for a particular course through CBE.
