PISD Accountability Updates

2017 Accountability Ratings
On August 8, 2013, the Texas Education Agency released the 2013 state accountability ratings for campuses and school districts. This was the first year of the new accountability system.  With this new system, schools and districts received a rating of:
  • Met Standard
  • Improvement Required
The new accountability system measures schools and districts with a four index model:

Index 1 student achievement; Index 2; student progress; Index 3 closing the performance gap; Index 4 post- secondary readiness.

Index 1 , student achievement, measures the percentage of students passing the state assessment exams. To pass this index, a school or district is required to score a 50 or more.

Index 2, student progress, measures the percentage of students who met progress or exceeded progress in the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness ( STAAR) grades four-eight and all the high school end- of course exams that were offered.

Index 3; closing performance gaps, measures the percentage of students in performance gaps groups who passed the state assessments. Tests in this category are the STAAR grades third-eighth and all the end-of-course exams. Each school district is measured by the three performance gap groups that showed the lowest growth during the 2011-12 school year.

Index 4; post- secondary readiness, measure the graduation rate, the recommended high school plan and the distinguished high school plan.

We are making progress and it is thanks to the diligent work of the students, teachers, the support of the Board of Trustees, the community, and the administration.

At PISD we are on a mission, and that is to make every student succeed. We are bringing Pearsall’s pride back. “A mission statement becomes a mission when it lives in the hearts and minds of the teachers, staff, parents, administrators and students. “ ( DuFour and Eaker, 1998). It is the reason we choose to work and learn at this particular school district.
