2021-2022 Compliance Training

Current legal statutes require and highly recommend that all school district staff undergo training related to the topics below.  Pearsall ISD is committed to ensure these requirements and recommendations are fulfilled.  Therefore, we have provided online training programs to assist you with completing these requirements according to a schedule that best fits your needs.  Special instructions and deadlines for each online training program is provided below.  Thank you for your cooperation!
This year Compliance Trainings have transitioned to a new Learning Management System that will make it easier for staff to navigate through courses. I have attached a step-by-step Compliance Course Guide for you  on how to create an account and access the courses in the new LMS. In addition, a how-to video is available on the Personnel Services Website under the “2021-2022 Compliance Courses Resources Tab”. You will the need the District Code as part of the account creation process. Our district code is 082903. Due to Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) requirements, the Cybersecurity course content is approved for use 9-1-21 through 8-31-22.  Therefore, this course will be available for staff beginning September 1, 2021.As in previous years, all courses include quizzes which require an individual to receive a score of 80% to pass. An individual may retake the quiz as many times as needed to pass. Once an employee passes a course they will receive a prompt to print the certificate. You must use Google Chrome to access courses. Please be aware that ads following videos embedded in the Online Compliance Training Series are not supported by or endorsed by ESC-20. Courses must be completed prior to October 31, 2021 (this includes the Cybersecurity course) in order to receive credit for the session(s). The following courses must be completed:
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Cybersecurity
  • Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse & Maltreatment of Children
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Suicide Prevention
 If you are an Athletic Coach the additional courses are required:
  • Concussions Can Be Serious
  • Illegal Steroid Use

COVID-19 Training (Deadline: Friday, August 7, 2020)
Public Health Planning Guidance developed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires school teachers and staff to be trained specifically on the protocols outlined within their public health planning guidance and the practices adopted by their school system.  To complete this training requirement, all staff will be required to watch a video and document their completion via an on-line form.  Please follow the instructions below:

Child Abuse/Sexual Abuse & Other Maltreatment (Deadline:  Friday, August 21, 2020)

Texas Education Code 38.0041 mandates training for school employees in regards to abuse and neglect of children.  Texas Department of Family Protective Services has an online training program that fulfills the requirement for training related to abuse and neglect of children.  To complete this training, we will utilize an online module within ESC Region 20's Connect 20 system.  Please follow the instructions below.

  1. Go to https://txr20.escworks.net/default.aspx and login
    1. Please be aware that district staff will be required to have a Connect20 account in order to access the Compliance Training Module
    2. In addition, in order to access the training, staff must have their school district email address listed in their Connect20 profile
  2. Search for 71865
    1. The title should read "Child Abuse/Sexual Abuse & Other Maltreatment (for Pearsall ISD Only)"
  3. You will then need to register for the course and take the course accordingly
    1. Because it is an online module, you may start and stop the course as needed, your progress will be saved
  4. After completing all sections of the training, you will be required to take a quiz and score at least 80%
  5. Upon completing the training and review questions, you will be able to generate your certificate
  6. Print and submit a copy of your certificate to your campus/department secretary and keep a copy for your records

 

 

Suicide Prevention (Deadline:  Friday, September 4, 2020)

Texas Health and Safety Code 161.325 requires school employees to receive training in the area of suicide prevention.  To complete this training, we will utilize an online module within ESC Region 20's Connect 20 system.  Please follow the instructions below.

  1. Go to https://txr20.escworks.net/default.aspx and login 
    1. Please be aware that district staff will be required to have a Connect20 account in order to access the Compliance Training Module
    2. In addition, in order to access the training, staff must have their school district email address listed in their Connect20 profile
  2. Search for 71877
    1. The title should read "Suicide Prevention (for Pearsall ISD Only)"
  3. You will then need to register for the course and take the course accordingly
    1. Because it is an online module, you may start and stop the course as needed, your progress will be saved
  4. After completing all sections of the training, you will be required to take a quiz and score at least 80%
  5. Upon completing the training and review questions, you will be able to generate your certificate
  6. Print and submit a copy of your certificate to your campus/department secretary and keep a copy for your records

 

 

Sexual Harassment (Deadline:  Friday, September 18, 2020)

According to 29 Code of Federal Regulation 1604.11(f) and Texas Education Code 21.451 require Districts to develop prevention measures for sexual harassment. To complete this requirement, we will utilize an online module within ESC Region 20's Connect 20 system.  Please follow the instructions below.

    1. Please be aware that district staff will be required to have a Connect20 account in order to access the Compliance Training Module
    2. In addition, in order to access the training, staff must have their school district email address listed in their Connect20 profile
  2. Search for 71873
    1. The title should read "Sexual Harassment (for Pearsall ISD Only)"
  3. You will then need to register for the course and take the course accordingly
    1. Because it is an online module, you may start and stop the course as needed, your progress will be saved
  4. After completing all sections of the training, you will be required to take a quiz and score at least 80%
  5. Upon completing the training and review questions, you will be able to generate your certificate
  6. Print and submit a copy of your certificate to your campus/department secretary and keep a copy for your records
 
 

Bloodborne Pathogens (Deadline:  Friday, October 2, 2020)

A district must comply with the minimum standards, including training and educational requirements for employees who provide services in a public or private facility providing healthcare related services.  This includes a district that operates a public school health clinic. To complete this requirement, we will utilize an online module within ESC Region 20's Connect 20 system.  Please follow the instructions below.

  1. Go to https://txr20.escworks.net/default.aspx and login 
    1. Please be aware that district staff will be required to have a Connect20 account in order to access the Compliance Training Module
    2. In addition, in order to access the training, staff must have their school district email address listed in their Connect20 profile
  2. Search for 71863 (or 71874 for Spanish)
    1. The title should read "Bloodborne Pathogens (for Pearsall ISD Only)"
  3. You will then need to register for the course and take the course accordingly
    1. Because it is an online module, you may start and stop the course as needed, your progress will be saved
  4. After completing all sections of the training, you will be required to take a quiz and score at least 80%
  5. Upon completing the training and review questions, you will be able to generate your certificate
  6. Print and submit a copy of your certificate to your campus/department secretary and keep a copy for your records
 
 
Seizure Training (Deadline:  Friday, October 16, 2020)
The Texas Education Code (TEC), §38.033, as added by House Bill (HB) 684, 86th Texas Legislature, requires school district employees whose duties include regular contact with students to complete an online course of instruction related to seizures and epilepsy.

  2. Read and follow the instructions carefully
  3. Proceed with the training video
  4. After watching the training video, you will be required to take a post-assessment and score at least 80%
  5. Upon completing the training and review questions, you will be able to generate your certificate
  6. Print and submit a copy of your certificate to your campus/department secretary and keep a copy for your records
