● Overview of meeting purpose: Re-establishing the Pearsall ISD SHAC
2. Public Comments
● Opportunity for input from parents, staff, or community members (per TEC §28.004(d))
3. Purpose of SHAC
● Presentation on the role and responsibilities of the SHAC under Texas Education Code §28.004
● Discussion of SHAC’s advisory function to the Board of Trustees on health education, physical activity, and wellness
4. Committee Organization
● Review of membership composition requirements (majority parents not employed by the district)
● Discussion and nomination of SHAC chair and co-chair positions
5. District Health & Wellness Overview
● Overview of current district health programs and services:
○ Health services and student wellness
○ Child nutrition program
○ Physical education and fitness initiatives
○ Mental health and counseling supports
6. SHAC Priorities for 2025–2026
● Identification of initial focus areas (examples: mental health, nutrition education, vaping
prevention, family engagement)
● Discussion of district wellness policy review process and compliance
7. Next Steps
● Establishment of subcommittees (if needed)
● Set date and agenda for next SHAC meeting
